Acorn Environmental Services is a long-established, family-run company providing tailored solutions in pest control, cleaning, and property maintenance across the North West, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and client satisfaction.

As Acorn’s Health and Safety Advisor, I support their operations by developing risk assessments and method statements, conducting site audits, and ensuring full compliance with HSE legislation. I advise on safe systems of work for tasks like pest control, cleaning, and high-level access, and I provide training and guidance to staff on PPE, emergency procedures, and hazard mitigation.

My role plays a key part in maintaining Acorn's strong safety culture and client trust.

HAHN Plastics is a specialist manufacturer committed to transforming post-consumer plastic waste into durable, long-life infrastructure through its flagship material, hanit®. Engineered to outperform timber, concrete, and steel, hanit® is manufactured as part of a closed-loop, fully circular process – providing clients with sustainable alternatives that are strong, low-maintenance, and built to last for up to 120 years. HAHN Plastics operates under rigorous quality and health & safety standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, ensuring both product excellence and responsible practice.

As a sub-contractor supporting HAHN’s UK operations, I conduct asbestos management surveys at their Manchester site to identify and assess the presence of ACMs (asbestos-containing materials). My role involves producing detailed asbestos management plans that ensure regulatory compliance and support the safety of both site workers and external contractors. These assessments play a vital part in maintaining the high health and safety standards that underpin HAHN’s certified ISO 45001 framework.

This work reflects one of HAHN’s core values: Caring. The business believes that “nothing is worth getting hurt for” – a philosophy embedded in every part of its operations. Whether it’s the protection of people on-site, the integrity of the materials produced, or the long-term environmental benefit of hanit®, safety and sustainability remain central to HAHN’s mission to build a better, safer future from waste.

As a subcontractor, I support Greater Manchester EPC by conducting asbestos management surveys and preparing detailed management plans to ensure site safety and compliance with current regulations.

My involvement helps property owners meet legal obligations and maintain safe environments for occupants and contractors.

The Darren Deady Foundation is a veteran-led charity based in Bolton, established in memory of Kingsman Darren Deady, who lost his life serving in Afghanistan. Founded by his family and friends, the foundation provides vital support to ex-service personnel, including housing assistance, mental health referrals, food packs, and benefits advice. Through initiatives like the “Big Build” veterans centre, they aim to offer wraparound care and a safe space for those transitioning from military to civilian life.

As a gesture of support for the Darren Deady Foundation, I carried out an asbestos management survey and developed a full asbestos management plan for their premises, free of charge. This work helped ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and visitors, while also supporting the charity’s continued use of their facilities in compliance with UK regulations.
